On Monday, the International Cricket Council named the 2022 Men’s T20I Team of the Year, and three Indian players made the cut: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. Suryakumar has been a batting sensation for the Indian side in the shortest format for quite some time now, while Kohli has changed dramatically as a batter since the 2022 Asia Cup, which was played in the T20 format. But the team was well balanced thanks to Hardik Pandya’s outstanding all-around play.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Mohammad Rizwan would start the batting alongside Jos Buttler. The remaining eleven were Glenn Phillips, Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, Wanindu Hasaranga, Haris Rauf, and Joshua Little.
What’s behind Virat Kohli’s recent success?
In 2022, Virat Kohli began to show signs of the old Virat Kohli. He absolutely dominated the Asia Cup, scoring 276 runs across five games to place second in the tournament. With his spectacular century versus Afghanistan, he finally broke his century drought of nearly three years.
Incomparable form from SKY
In Twenty20 Internationals, Suryakumar Yadav had a phenomenal 2022, becoming only the second player in history to hit over 1,000 runs in a single year. He finished the year with 1164 runs, the most of any player, thanks to two hundreds and nine half-centuries on his way to a staggering 187.43 batting average.
In the T20 World Cup, SKY also showed off his regal skills by scoring 239 runs at a strike rate of 189.68. At the end of the season, he was ranked as the best batsman in the world according to the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.
Hardik Pandya’s complete performance
By 2022, Hardik Pandya had become into the all-around player India had hoped he would be. He made significant contributions with the bat and the ball. He had his finest statistical year when playing for India, hitting 607 runs and grabbing 20 wickets. It was Pandya at the other end who helped rebuild after Virat Kohli’s historic knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. Later in the competition, he also showed off his tremendous hitting ability by scoring 63 runs off of just 33 balls to help India post a decent total against England in the semi-finals.
