Former Indian player and national selector joins Punjab Kings’ coaching staff
- A number of the Punjab Kings’ support staff members have been replaced since IPL 2023 began. Trevor Bayliss, an Australian, has been hired as the team’s new head coach, and Wasim Jaffer has been rehired to serve as the batting coach.
- Sunil Joshi, a former Indian spin bowler and national selector, has been hired as the spin bowling coach for the Punjab Kings of the Indian Premier League for the upcoming 2023 season. An announcement was made by the IPL team on their social media accounts. After Anil Kumble’s departure as head coach in late 2019, Joshi was on staff with the Punjab side as Kumble’s assistant. As of early in 2020, Joshi has resigned from his position to join the national men’s selection panel in India.

Let’s give him a hearty welcome, Sher Squad.” The 52-year-old has played in the Indian league that earns a lot of money. From 2008-2009, he was a member of the inaugural Royal Challengers Bangalore squad. The years 1996–2001 saw Joshi participate in 15 Tests and 69 ODIs.
- There have been numerous personnel shifts on the Punjab Kings side. Trevor Bayliss, an Australian, has taken over as head coach, and Wasim Jaffer has returned to the team as batting coach. Moreover, the team’s bowling coach, Charl Langeveldt of South Africa. The team has made certain adjustments to the playing roster as well as the coaching and support personnel. Mayank Agarwal, the team’s former captain, was just cut before the December 2022 mini-auction. The new team leader is Shikhar Dhawan. Among the few remaining teams in the IPL, Punjab Kings has yet to claim the championship. In 2014, they reached the competition final where they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. The Kings’ team came so close to winning the final match, but ultimately lost by three wickets.
- In the previous IPL season, the Kings ended in sixth place, outside of the playoffs. The English all-rounder was purchased by the Punjab Kings for a then-record INR 18.5 crore during the IPL 2023 mini auctions, setting a new record for the most money ever spent on an IPL player.
